Product Description
Benzalkonium Chloride (BKC) Cationic Surfactant CAS 68424-85-1 with Broad-Spectrum Bactericide, Algae-Killing Capabilities, and Slime Removal

Benzalkonium chloride is a quaternary ammonium-based cationic surfactant, a heterogeneous mixture of various even-chain alkylbenzyl chlorides. This non-oxidizing bactericide offers broad-spectrum, highly effective bactericidal and algicidal capabilities, effectively controlling bacterial and algae proliferation while removing slime in water systems.

The product features good dispersing and penetrating effects, along with degreasing, deodorizing, and corrosion-inhibiting properties. It is readily soluble in ethanol, with aqueous solutions being neutral to slightly alkaline, ranging from colorless to pale yellow in color.

Chemical Properties and Stability

Solubility: Excellent water solubility, forming neutral to alkaline solutions.

Stability: Relatively stable, but decomposes under strong acid, strong oxidizing agents, and high temperatures.

Compatibility: Good compatibility with cationic and nonionic surfactants, but incompatible with anionic surfactants.

Avoid using with chlorophenols, as this may cause chemical reactions that reduce efficacy or produce harmful substances.
Usage Method

Dosage:

  • As bactericide and algaecide: 50-100 mg/L
  • As slime remover: 200-300 mg/L

Addition Method: Can be directly added to circulating cooling water systems or continuously added via dosing devices.

Circulation Operation: After addition, systems require continuous circulation to allow full product effectiveness.

Monitoring: Regularly monitor turbidity and microbial content. Discharge and replenish water when standards are met.

Packaging & Shipping

Packaging: 25KG/drum, 50KG/drum, or tonnes (for liquids)

Storage: Store in cool, dry place protected from moisture and direct sunlight

Shelf Life: 12 months

Applications
  • Bactericidal & Algae-Killing: Broad-spectrum efficiency controlling bacteria and algae in water systems
  • Slime Removal: Excellent slime removal properties preventing accumulation in pipes and equipment
  • Dispersion & Penetration: Penetrates throughout water systems to eliminate hidden bacteria
