Dioctyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate DOSS CAS 577-11-7 45% Purity Anionic Surfactant For Rapid Wetting And Emulsification
Dioctyl Sodium Sulfosuccinate (DOSS) is an anionic surfactant, chemically named sodium di-2-octyl maleate sulfonate. It appears as a pale yellow to brownish-yellow viscous liquid that dissolves in water to form a milky white solution. This compound significantly reduces surface tension and offers rapid penetration, wetting, emulsification, and foaming properties.
DOSS is prepared through esterification of maleic anhydride and 2-octyl alcohol followed by sulfonation. It is not resistant to strong acids, strong alkalis, heavy metal salts, or reducing agents, and should be used at temperatures below 40℃.
In the dyeing and printing industry, DOSS is primarily used in the mercerizing process of cotton fabrics, accelerating the penetration of concentrated alkali solutions into fibers and reducing treatment time to 30-50 seconds. Treated fabrics can be directly bleached or dyed without scouring, with a recommended dosage of 10-30 g/L.
