Product Overview
Nonylphenol Ethoxylate-4 is a nonionic surfactant produced through the addition reaction of nonylphenol with 4 moles of ethylene oxide. At room temperature, it appears as a colorless to pale yellow transparent oily liquid with an HLB value of 8-9. This compound exhibits high lipophilicity, is sparingly soluble in cold water, but readily soluble in organic solvents and mineral oils. It disperses effectively in hot water and demonstrates resistance to hard water, weak acids, and alkalis. Compatible with various ionic surfactants, it offers excellent water-in-oil emulsification, penetration, dispersion, and degreasing capabilities.

Applications
Nonylphenol Ethoxylate-4 is soluble in oil and other organic solvents with excellent emulsifying properties. As a lipophilic emulsifier, it is used to prepare water-in-oil (w/o) type emulsions. In organic synthesis reactions, it serves as a reaction medium that can shorten reaction times and improve conversion rates. For example, in polyvinyl chloride (PVC) polymerization, it functions as a shaping agent to produce uniform PVC granules and prevent reaction sticking. It can also be used as a dry cleaning agent.
